OLM CANCELS TOWN HALL MEETING, HOLD SEVERAL OTHER MEETINGS

The OLM held several meetings this weekend in an effort to revamp its activities and get itself back on track.  The executive and the board held a joint meeting and then the OLM president held a meeting with the County heads.

It is not known what transpired at either of the meetings, but it is reported that Mrs. Sinoe alone attended the county meeting.  None of her lieutenants were present, which was a concern of the county heads.  The communiqué emanating from this meeting is not out yet, but it is possible that it will bear some fruit, since the last meeting did not bear any.

In the last county meeting, Mrs. Sinoe implored county heads to work along with her administration with regards to the hosting and attendance of programs.  The idea behind that meeting was to consolidate schedules, since county and other institutional organizations draw huge crowds at their programs versus, empty halls when it is the OLM.  By working along with these organizations and institutions, the President was hopeful that more people would attend OLM called functions and meetings.

With regards to the joint meeting, all efforts to get information about the results proved futile.  But, after the meeting, the General Secretary of the OLM sent communications to cancel the August 13th, 2006 Town Hall meeting.  This is the third cancellation in less than a month.  The first town hall meeting was  canceled due to zero attendance by the community for which it was held.

Several days ago, the Chairman of the Board reiterated to the public an announcement about the meeting.  People wondered after receiving the email, what the motive was behind that reminder.

According to reports, the board of the OLM has been pressuring the President and her team to produce reports and hold meetings and inform the public of their accomplishments and activities, all to no avail.

The OLM’s constitution provides for that regular activity which has not been done at the interval as provided within that document.

With the just ended Independence activity, the meetings come as no surprise since the organization may have not broken even and may have incurred substantial losses.  The Independence Day Committee should be making a report soon.
