KEYKPO AUDIT OUT!

In furtherance of its efforts to continue to foster accountability in its governance, the OLM instituted an audit of the elections commission headed by Mr. Benoni T. Grimes and his corps of officers.  The audit, which was conducted by Mr. Gibson Keykpo offered an insight to the financial health of the Elections Commission.

To balance the information emanating from this exercise, the BushChicken spoke with Mr. Grimes and Mr. Keykpo about the audit.

Gibson Keykpo, Chairman of the Audit Committee

In the telephone interview with Mr. Grimes, he insisted that he did not get a chance to provide the full details of the operations of the Elections Commission.  He also stated that Mr. Wisseh Geegbae who is the Treasure of the Elections Commission was not given the due notice to fully cooperate with the audit committee.  Mr. Grimes contends that he has not read the audit.

Mr. Keykpo for his part stated that he has conducted a professional audit.  This audit, he averred is not about what he thinks, but what the numbers say about the activities of the elections commission’s activities during the reporting period.

In his conclusion, Mr. Keykpo noted that “The elections commission is expected to account for a grand total of $2446.00, since this is the amount in question as per the commission’s first and second reports submitted to the executive committee.”

He also notes in the beginning that, “The audit committee also regrets to assert the uncooperative level of interactions by the auditee which restricted the efforts of the audit committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the elections commission’s financial records during the period under review.”

The BushChicken has attached a PDF file of the report, which was conducted by the Keykpo committee.

Mr. Grimes is currently the Elections Commissioner of the ULAA and will be conducting elections for the upcoming postions.
