Only two days after the just ended widely acclaimed OLM inaugural ball, the Chairman of the committee Mr. Wayne Doe, in an email to his committee members reported that from all indications from the preliminary count, the event grossed $18,000 plus. This amount is from drinks and ticket sales with outstanding amounts with sponsors support not factored in. It must be noted herein that, against the receipts not tallied plus the gross, expenses will be applied to derive the net. He recognized the hard working efforts of all the committee members and mentioned that the three goals of the inaugural ball were accomplished. The three goals were: 1. Showcase our community leaders 2. Entertain 3. Raise fundsThe committee will hold its closing meeting on Sunday, March 19 at which time all outstanding balances and the full amount will be reported. At this meeting, the total amount along with expenses and profit may be disclosed to the public. In his email to the members, he quoted, “As you all are aware, accountability is one of the most sensitive aspect of our accomplishments. Let us be diligent about our reporting to maintain the high level of trust that we have shown in each other and that all Liberians and friends expect of us.”The level of professionalism of the hardest working committee of the OLM once again is attributed to the professionalism and integrity brought in by its head Mr. Wayne Doe. It is this level of integrity and professionalism that we admonish the OLM to continue in its endeavor to acquire the 501C3 status. As we all know, the last administration found it difficult to get the non-profit status due to issues with financial accountability in its affairs. We trust that the Martha Sinoe camp which ran on the motto, Unity, Progress and Accountability will make sure that it audit activities of the past administration, the elections commission and any other related body so that its books would be in order and help her achieve success in this administration.Hats off to the inaugural committee and we all thank the leadership of Mr. Wayne Doe, exemplary Liberian.
